Organizational Development is a division of Strategic Operations. It is a new division created by the Fire Chief. The Organizational Development Division Chief oversees all functions within the division and also serves as an Emergency Management liaison for the fire department. Organizational Development encompasses training, recruitment, hiring, promotions, fitness, and safety. The two branches under Organizational Development are Training and Personnel Development.
Training Division
The Training Division has one captain, two lieutenants, and two firefighters. Their responsibility is to assist department members in maintaining an efficient level of knowledge and skills in multiple fields. These include, but are not limited to, structural firefighting, many aspects of rescue, safety, emergency medical procedures, and hazardous material incidents. The medical aspect of training covers areas from simple first-aid to complicated advanced life support at the paramedic level.
Personnel Development
The Personnel Development Division consists of one captain. This job entails reviewing department policy to ensure consistency in all areas and to maintain our high standards. Personnel Development assists in monitoring promotions, hiring, recruitment, fitness and safety. The position also monitors injury and accident reports looking for ways to improve safety.
