Title: Part Time Division/Department: Community Services Administration/Community Services Salary: $9.15 per hour Qualifications: Performs a variety of clerical duties in support of the Community Service Department administrative office. Position requires considerable phone and public contact. Must be proficient in typing, filing, computer 10 key by touch and attention to detail. Maintains detailed and complex records for City Cemetery. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Professional Suite. Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Preference given to those applicants with one year clerical experience. Anticipated work hours are as needed between 8:00am and 5:00pm, averaging 32 hours per week, except during peak summer months where hours worked may be as many as 39 hours per week. Title: Full Time Division/Department:Community Enhancement/Planning and Development Salary: $2,032.80 per month ($938.21 bi-weekly)* Qualifications: Under general supervision, to perform advanced and complex secretarial, clerical and administrative support to the division and staff; provide support to major boards and commissions; take and transcribe minutes of major boards and commissions; follow through on meetings and preparing legal notices; answer calls, greet visitors, and handle mail; provide information and assistance to the general public. Key elements of duties include but are not limited to: preparing agendas and packets for boards and commission meetings, maintaining complex records and files, preparing and tracking travel requests, check requests, invoices, and purchase orders, coordinating payroll, and assisting with budget statistical reports and budget tracking. Requires skills in customer service, complaint resolution, and general office practices. Experience with Microsoft office suite and internet use. Ability to read and understand maps, spreadsheets, and reports. Will work responsibly with confidential matters. Must have the ability to effectively interact with staff, contractors and citizens over the telephone and in person. Prefer three years experience in responsible secretarial work. Education equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by course work in secretarial sciences and/or business management. Closing Date: 02-10-2012

Title: Full Time Division/Department: Information Technology/Administrative Services Salary: (I) $2,136.09 per month ($985.89 bi-weekly)* (II) $2, 600.84 per month ($1, 200.39 bi-weekly)*
Qualifications: The Computer Technician’s primary mission is to maintain the computing infrastructure of the City’s data network. The Technician performs various technical tasks relating to the configuration, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance of City computer systems, peripheral devices, and networks. Position requires in-depth knowledge of and an ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows-based computer systems on a complex data network; requires strong communication skills to provide excellent customer service; requires a willingness and ability to learn; must possess an understanding of mainstream computer software, hardware, and fundamental networking concepts; must be proficient with various Microsoft Windows operating systems and Office suites. (Technician I) Prefer a minimum of two years experience working with Windows-based computers and software applications in a centrally managed networked environment. (Technician II) Associate’s degree preferred; prefer Microsoft Windows Certification (such as MCDST) and A+ certification. Any combination of experience and training may be qualifying. Title: Full Time Division/Department: Zoological Gardens/Community Services Salary: Zookeeper I: $1,710.30 per month ($789.37 bi-weekly)* Zookeeper II: $,2032.80 per month ($938.21 bi-weekly)* Qualifications: The responsibilities of this position include providing for the safety and daily care of animals in the Reptile and Amphibian Area of the Zoo. This position includes work with venomous and non-venomous reptiles, amphibians, aquarium work and some small mammals. Applicants must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and must possess good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Manual work is involved. This is an excellent opportunity for a competent individual interested in working in a progressive environment that wishes to grow with the zoo. High school diploma or equivalent is required and a college degree in the Life Sciences is preferred. Also, documented venomous reptile experience is necessary and elapid experience is preferred. Zookeeper - II requires at least two years of paid experience equivalent to that of a Zookeeper - I in the City of Abilene. Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record, as a driving record check will be required for this position. Closing Date: Open Until Filled
