The City of Abilene Senior Services Division provides excellent Recreational and Social opportunities for senior citizens of Abilene and surrounding areas. Participants can enjoy a wide variety of activities and services which includes fitness classes, lunch program, educational opportunities, and more. The City of Abilene has four Senior Centers for Senior Citizens ages 55 and older or the spouse of someone that age.


  • Recreational Activities

    Each of the four Senior Centers offer a variety of recreational activities that include card games, dance classes, field trips, educational opportunities, and more.

    Family Holiday Festival

    The City of Abilene Senior Services Division will host its annual Family Holiday Festival on Friday, December 9th at the Rose Park Senior Activity Center. The festival is themed “Old Fashioned Christmas” and will include several events throughout the day and serves as the Senior Services Division annual fundraiser.

    At 9:45am morning bingo will begin and the cost is $5 per card. There will be various prizes sponsored by Abilene Regional Senior Circle. 

    At 5pm dinner service will begin with a menu of turkey, dressing, sides, and dessert.  Tickets run $8 per person for dinner only. Tickets for the dinner & dance can be purchase in advance for $13 per person.

    From 5-6pm dinner entertainment will include a performance by David Holbrook!

    At 6:30pm evening bingo will begin with the cost of $5 per card.

    From 7-10pm there will be a dance featuring music by Muddy Creek. Cost for the dance is $6 per person and may be purchased in advance with a dinner ticker or at the door for the dance only.

    A Silent Auction will be on display at the Rose Park Senior Center. The auction will begin December 5th and come to an end Friday, December 9th at 8pm. Auction items include jewelry, gift cards, household items, and more.  To bid on items, visit the Rose Park Senior Activity Center from 8:30am – 4pm Monday through Friday.

    Fitness and Health Related Activities

    The City of Abilene Senior Services Division offers a variety of fitness classes for Active Adults.  These classes are led by senior volunteers and designed for Senior Citizens.


  • A nutritious lunch is served Monday through Friday.  Written special diets are prepared for those with written Doctors orders.  Carry out meals can be arranged for participants who pre-qualify.

  • Transportation service is available to senior citizens age 60 and older.  Transportation is available for Senior Citizens from their residence to any of the Senior Activity Centers. Participants must be able to get on and off the bus without assistance. Following the lunch program, the senior citizens will be returned to their residence.

    Twice a month, staff provides transportation to and from a local grocery store.  There are no assigned fees for this service; however confidential donations are accepted.

  • The City of Abilene Senior Services Division offers transportation for medical appointments Monday through Thursday from 9am to 1:30pm.  Reservations can be made at (325) 673-4694.
