2017 Young Audiences Schedule

Don't miss this exciting summer series designed for youth ages 7+, thanks to the Young Audiences of Abilene. All performances will be hosted at the Main Library (202 Cedar St.) in the auditorium on the 2nd floor. All performances will last 45-minutes each.

Bernadette Nason
Bernadette Nason is an award-winning storyteller, actress, and writer who has studied all over the world, including Guildford Acting School. She believes in the power and influence that live storytelling can change the world. Producing many programs that focus on multicultural folktales, holidays, and world tales, her shows are suitable for all ages, which has led her to perform in theatres, schools, libraries, and festivals. With 30+ years of experience, she's been on the Texas Commission on the Arts Texas Touring Roster since 2002, telling tales annually to over 30,000 students. Don't miss out on her visit to your library this summer.

Le Theatre de Marionette's repertoire of storybook classics and variety shows have delighted audiences across Texas since 1985. Known for its theaters operating from 1990-2004 in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington, this DFW-based touring company performs in a multitude of venues including schools, libraries, museums, civic centers, festivals, and more, bringing their one-of-a-kind marionette puppets to life for families. Kid-tested and teacher-approved, you won't want to miss out on this wonderful show from an experienced troupe who love to entertain.

Joe McDermott
Joe McDermott is a singer/songwriter described as a "Texas Treasure" by the Texas Library Association. His performances are dynamic and highly entertaining for children & parents. His awards include the NAPPA Gold Award, several Parent's Choice Awards, and the grand prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for his song "Great Big World." His shows are geared especially for children where he loves to include audience participation and interaction for a more lively experience. Joe's Montessori training allows him to easily help the audience transition from energy-filled movement songs to sit-down story songs.  Don't pass up on his dynamic show, returning for a second year.

Hampstead Stage Company
The Hampstead Stage Company has been in operation since 1983, serving as one of the largest educational touring companies in the nation. Performing over 2,000 shows a year in the U.S, they've performed for over 20 million people. Focusing on original adaptations, based on literary classics, their performances are sure to delight children and parents alike. Having performed at the Abilene Public Library in the past, we're pleased to see their return for another engaging program featuring great actors sharing their passion with people everywhere.
