The Water Utilities Department is responsible for stormwater pollution abatement, water operations, and wastewater operations in the City of Abilene, including: providing for adequate, high quality water supply; treating and distributing potable water; collecting all wastewaters discharged to sanitary sewer systems; and transporting and treating all wastewater prior to discharging it into the environment.

The Water Administration oversees all aspects of stormwater pollution abatement, and water and wastewater operations. Water Administration has primary responsibility for water management, conservation programs, and non-point source pollution abatement programs.

The Utility Office processes orders for water and sewer service and performs billing and collection for water, sewer, and refuse services.

Water Production maintains and repairs; raw water pumping facilities, water treatment equipment, water distribution facilities, and instrumentation systems associated with water and wastewater functions.

Water Treatment treats raw water to drinking water standards in the most cost-effective way possible.

Water Distribution/Sewage Collection provides field support for customer service and maintains water distribution and sewage collection systems and associated facilities.

Wastewater Treatment treats and discharges wastewater for the City of Abilene in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Quality Control monitors quality of water and wastewater in order to protect the health, safety, and environment of Abilene citizens.
