WATER TREATMENT

The City's Water Treatment System consists of three treatment plants having the maximum treatment capacity of 48.5 mgd and combined treated water storage of 11.95 million gallons. The three water treatment plants are:

Northeast Water Treatment Plant
4210 East Lake Road
Capacity: 23.5 mgd
Raw Water Sources: Fort Phantom Hill Lake Hubbard Creek Reservoir
Grimes Water Treatment Plant
209 East Highway 80
Capacity: 23.5 mgd
Raw Water Sources: Fort Phantom Hill Lake Hubbard Creek Reservoir
Abilene Treatment Plant
7566 Penny Lane
Capacity: 1.5 mgd
Raw Water Source: Lake Abilene

Hargesheimer Water Treatment Plant
1594 Hwy. 83/84, Tuscola, TX 79562
Micro-Filtration Capacity: 8.95 MGD
Reverse Osmosis/ Blended Capacity: 6.0 MGD
Raw Water Source: O.H. Ivie Reservoir

 

At these plants, raw water undergoes complete treatment including coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection. Water quality is closely monitored in all phases of production and treatment.
