Environmental Recycling Center



The Environmental Recycling Center, located at 2209 Oak Street, is a "One Stop Drop" Recycling Center as part of Abilene's voluntary recycling program. The hours of operation at the Center are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Sunday. The Center is closed on all city approved holidays. Recycling


We accept:

  • Bi-metal cans
  • Glass bottles & jars (clean/without lids)
  • Aluminum cans, donated
  • Newspapers, magazines, office paper, and junk mail
  • #1 thru #6 plastics (milk jugs/soda bottles)
  • Cardboard
  • Scrap metal, white goods, and appliances containing refrigerant gasses

    We cannot accept:

  • Wood products such as fencing or framing lumber
  • Furniture

  • For your convenience, we also have sites around the city for common recyclables such as newspaper, cardboard, bi-metal cans, aluminum beverage cans, glass, and #1 thru #6 plastics.

  • A reminder that glass containers should be empty and cleaned without lids.

  • A reminder, do not use a plastic bag or heavy twine or string when placing newspaper in these containers.
