I welcome you to the Abilene Police Department via the Internet. The
Abilene Police Department is excited to open its doors electronically to
our community and visitors from around the world. The Abilene Police
Department has as authorized strength of 180 sworn positions and 50
additional civilian positions. Abilene, a city of 117,000, is located in
the middle of the State of Texas and is one of the safest cities in the
nation. We place a high emphasis on community – customer oriented
policing. We indeed do serve our community and our citizens. We are
proud of our many accomplishments. Many of our programs have been
recognized at the State and National levels. Some of those programs are
our Training, Youth, Missing Children, SWAT, K-9, Comp Stat and our
patrol deployment.

seeking. The Web Site is kept fresh and updated by a committee of
officers and supervisors; Sgt. Kim Vickers, Sgt. Mike Perry, Detective
Lee Reed, Office Rick Wooded, Detective Rick Dorman, Jennifer Stuckey
and Chairman Sgt. Stan Standridge. We are happy to share with you our
Mission Statement and Values of the Abilene Police Department as listed

The mission of the Abilene Police Department is to enhance the quality
of life in the City of Abilene by working cooperatively with the public
and to serve our citizens within the framework of the United States
Constitution to enforce the laws, provide a safe environment and reduce
the fear of crime.
The articulated values of the Abilene Police Department in support of
this mission are:
- The Police Department must be willing to involve the community
in all aspects and thus enhance the quality of life in our
community.
- The Police Department is committed to maintaining the highest
levels of integrity and professionalism in all its operations.
