Don't Mess With Texas Trash-Off April 5, 2008 Texas’ signature event of the Great American Cleanup. Volunteers throughout the state remove litter from roadsides, city parks, neighborhoods, and waterways during this annual event organized by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and KTB.
Spring Clean for Abilene & Tire Amnesty Days April 10-12, 2008 Spring Clean is for cleaning out your yard, garage, attic, etc. (not for commercial businesses or major renovations of your home), The Environmental Recycling Center is open for 3 days (a Thursday, Friday and Saturday) to take furniture, mattresses, batteries, computers, household hazardous waste, common recyclables, bulky brush and tires. There are fees for computers/electronics and large tires and/or tires with rims. Only 8 residential passenger tires to a resident with proof of Abilene residence (current utility bill).
