Fall Arbor Day Tree Planting and Giveaway

Post Date:10/24/2017 4:51 PM

Have you ever wondered why we don’t plant trees in April on Arbor Day?  Well…planting in the spring means the new tree will face some major challenges with surviving the heat and drought of summer.  Here in Abilene, we have found its best to wait till fall to plant a new tree.

Would you like to learn how to plant and care for a new tree?  Join us at the Rose Park Amphitheater on Saturday, November 4th at 10am for a step-by-step tree planting demonstration.  Following the demonstration we will give away 65 one gallon trees (one per household and first come first served).

This event is made possible by our partners: City of Abilene, My Parks & Recreation, Keep Abilene Beautiful, Abilene Christian University, Broken Willow Tree Service, Bridgestone Bandag, and American Electric Power.

For more information on this event, call Keep Abilene Beautiful at 325-734-3301.
