02/02/2016: DCHHS Reports First Zika Virus Case in Dallas County Acquired Through Sexual Transmission (click for press release)


01/20/2016: Although the Zika virus is not native to Texas, public health officials are concerned cases might start appearing in the approaching warmer months. This virus is transmitted through mosquito bites, so we urge you to use DEET containing bug spray to prevent mosquito bites while outdoors. If you or a loved one has travelled to one of the following countries where Zika cases have been confirmed, please consult your doctor even if you have not felt any symptoms. The countries that have reported past or present cases of Zika are:
