Texas Authors Series - Main Library Auditorium, Noon

Have lunch with romantic novelist Lisa Wingate as she presents a sneak peak at her new set of small-town novels for Bethany House Publishers. The series debuted with Talk of the Town earlier this year. Bring lunch; we'll provide drinks with this free event, or a limited number of sandwiches will be available for $3.

Cover-to-Cover Book Club - Main Library Auditorium, 7 p.m.

Abilene Public Library's book club members select a fiction or non-fiction title for the coming month by consensus. In honor of Memorial Day, and our neighborhing National WASP WWII Museum in Sweetwater, May's title is "Winning My Wings" a woman Air Force service pilot in World War II" by Marion Hodgson. Everyone is welcome. Free.

Teen Anime Club - Main Library Auditorium, 7 p.m.

This onthly club is everything Japanese animation art. For ages 12-18. Free.

Senior Jamboree 2008 - Abilene Civic Center, 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

"Seniors are the Stars" is the theme of this year's Senior Jamboree which promotes the interests of older adults. The event is free for adults over age 60 but a donation of $2.50 is suggested. Tickets for guests under 60 years old are $5/each. Tickets for the luncheon can be picked up at Rose Park Senior Center, 2526 S. 7th Street through May 13.

Antique & Collectible Appraisal Fair - Main Library, 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Dust off all the treasures from the basement, shed or attic and bring them in for an evaluation from a local expert. Three items per person, please, and no certified appraisals will be given. It's free to find out if you've got trash, or treasure! New this year, the Abilene Public Library offers two arrival times which will help reduce wait times.
