Who We Are
Mike Michaud – Laboratory Manager – has been with the City of Abilene since July 1992 and has served as the Laboratory Manager since March 2006. Prior to this, he was the Quality Control Chemist and a Laboratory Technician. He holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Texas, a B.S., M.Div., and an M.A. from Abilene Christian University. His previous experience includes chemical research in the pharmaceutical, chromatography, and petroleum industries. He is certified as a class “A” Laboratory Analyst by the TWUA, and has earned class “A” Water and a class “B” Wastewater licenses. Mike is currently the Lead Technical Director and the Deputy Quality Control Manager. |

| Mike Homan – Industrial Waste Manager – has been with the City of Abilene since July 1998. He began with the City as a Laboratory Technician specializing in metals analysis. He is retired from the Air Force and holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Hardin-Simmons University. He also holds a Customer Service Inspector’s License. | |
| Robert Klafter – Quality Control Manager – has been with the City of Abilene since February 2000 and has served as the Quality Control Manager since May 2007. Prior to this his primary duties include Oil & Grease, metals, and Cyanide analyses. He holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University. He is certified as a class “C” Laboratory Analyst by the TWUA, and holds a “B” Wastewater and a “C” Water license. Rob is currently the Quality Control Manager and a Technical Director. | |
| Morris Jacobsen – Customer Service Inspector – has been with the City of Abilene since October 2000 and the Customer Service Inspector since February 2006. His primary duties deal with backflow prevention. He holds a Customer Service Inspector’s License. | |
| Gail Worley – Administrative Clerk – has been with the City of Abilene since February 2000. Her primary duties consist of overseeing all administrative functions in the lab including reports, billing, and purchasing. | |
| Julia Casey – Laboratory Technician II – has been with the City of Abilene since December 1998. Her primary duties include total organic carbon, Chlorine Dioxide Generator efficiencies, and various water and wastewater analyses. She holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Arizona State University and a MS Hardin-Simmons University. She holds class “C” Wastewater and a class “C” Water license. She also holds a class “C” Laboratory certificate. | |
| Landan Smith – Laboratory Technician I– has been with the City of Abilene since November 2007. His primary duties include sampling and various water and wastewater analyses. He is also the lead Technician in the Microbiology area. He holds a B.S. degree in Field and Marine Biology from Texas A & M University. Landan has earned a class “C” Water License and a Class “D” Wastewater license. | |
| Laura Wilder – Laboratory Technician in Training – has been with the City of Abilene since November 2008. Her primary duties include sampling and various water and wastewater analyses. She is also the lead Technician in Metals analysis. She holds a B.A. degree in Biochemistry from Abilene Christian University. Laura has earned her class “C” Water and “D” Wastewater licenses. | |
| Rebecca Bos - Laboratory Technician I – has been with the City of Abilene since May 2009. Her primary duties include sampling and various water and wastewater analyses. She is also the lead Technician in the General Chemistry area. She holds a B.A. degree in Chemistry from Abilene Christian University. Rebecca has earned a class “C” Water license and a class “D” Wastewater license. | |
| Mark Koch – Laboratory Technician I– has been with the City of Abilene since November 2009. His primary duties include sampling and various water and wastewater analyses. He holds a B.S. degree in Microbiology from the Texas Tech University. Mark has earned class “D” Water and class “D” Wastewater licenses. | |
| William Jones – Laboratory Technician I– has been with the City of Abilene since March 2010. His primary duties include sampling and various water and wastewater analyses. He holds a B.S. degree in Biochemistry from Hardin-Simmons University. William has earned class “D” Water and class “D” Wastewater licenses. | |
| Tanya Johnston – Laboratory Technician I– has been with the City of Abilene since April 2010. Her primary duties include sampling and various water and wastewater analyses. She holds a B.A. degree in Biochemistry from Abilene Christian University. Tanya has earned class “D” Water and class “D” Wastewater licenses. | |
| Alyson Rhodes – Laboratory Technician I– has been with the City of Abilene since August 2010. Her primary duties include sampling and various water and wastewater analyses. She holds a B.A. degree in Biology from the University of Dallas at Irving. Alyson has earned a class “D” Water license. |
