Mission Statement
The mission of the Abilene Downtown Association is to promote and protect Downtown businesses and the Downtown community as a whole. Through close cooperation with the City of Abilene and civic organizations, we strive to continually improve the Downtown community and entice new businesses to the area. In order to do this most effectively, the organization seeks the support and input of all downtown businesses.
Why join? We are always looking for new and creative ideas to promote downtown. Make your voice count and work with our progressive organization. Some of our past and current accomplishments are:
* Parking ~ we initiated a comprehensive study on parking and problem areas. This study was presented to the City and several problems have been corrected. We didn’t solve all the parking woes of downtown but we continue to work with the City to resolve parking issues.
* Sponsorships ~ dues help sponsor
* ArtWalk
* City Sidewalks (community tree lighting, Christmas parade, shopping, gingerbread house decorating contest and more!) is organized and funded by the Downtown Association. Member dues pay for all newspaper and billboard advertising.
The Association meets on the 1st Thursday of each month at various locations. The meetings offer you a chance to promote your business and learn what’s going on with other businesses in the area. Dues are reasonable and all money is spent promoting downtown.
What are Downtown Abilene Dollars? Give someone the gift of the Downtown Abilene experience! Downtown Abilene Dollars are gift cards that can be used at participating downtown stores, businesses, restaurants and museums.
