The Engineering Division develops and maintains Design Standards and Specifications, City Maps, Street directories. They also issue permits for driveways, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. Engineering also reviews and approves all engineering documents submitted by outside parties. The Engineering Division also provides:

- Street Drainage Designs
- Customer Service for Building Permits
- Design Guidance
- AutoCAD Service for Other Departments
- Legal Contract Documents and Specifications
- Oversees the design and construction of subdivisions within the City of Abilene limits as well as those in the 5 mile Extra Territorial Jurisdiction.

Team Spirit. We are proud of our past performance and accomplishments. Our Team has produced plans and specifications for numerous street projects, parking lots, parks, walking paths, sidewalks, flood control projects, creek cleaning, and building structures. Our team has produced an average of four million dollars per year of completed projects the last four years and we are expecting more this next year. We welcome the challenge of new and different types of projects and we stand ready to raise the bar to higher standards.
Continuous Improvement. We constantly look for new innovations and development that will enhance the quality of design and be more economically feasible. We do not have specialists nor do we shun new ideas and challenges. We strive to perform better on every project and invite all types of engineering projects and forensic solutions. If the City of Abilene has a problem, we will find a solution.
Responsiveness. Our team will respond, and provide a timely service of the highest quality that will fit the schedule and approval. of the City of Abilene.
Integrity. Our engineering design work is based on strong work ethics, many years of experience, and sincere and dedicated work force. We have a constant cost accounting record that indicates that we provide a service that is less expensive than local or national outside agencies and consulting firms. We are consistently lower than the American Society of Civil Engineers average rate. We pride ourselves on our ability to save money!
