How To Appear Before The Abilene City Council




Listed below are the steps a citizen may follow to request to appear before the Abilene City Council on a subject matter that is appropriate for the City Council consider at a public Council meeting:

   1. Prepare a written request addressed to:

    City Secretary
    City of Abilene
    P.O. Box 60
    Abilene, Texas, 79604


The request should contain at least the following information:
        a. Date request is made.
        b. Description of subject to be presented at the meeting.
        c. Approximate time period the presentation will take.
        d. Date of City Council meeting at which the individual would like to
            present the subject.
        e. Signature of the individual making the request, printed name, address
            and phone number.


   2. Written request must be received by the City Secretary at least eight (8) calendar days
       prior to the Council meeting at which the individual chooses to appear.


   3. The City Secretary will forward the written request to the Mayor/City Manager for approval

        a. If the request is APPROVED, the individual making the request will be notified of
            approval and informed of the City Council meeting date and time at which the subject
            item will be considered
        b. If the request is DENIED, the individual making the request will be notified of denial.



City Council meetings are held the second and fourth Thursdays at 8:30 a.m., except in November and December, when they are held on the first and third Thursdays at 8:30 a.m. in the City Council Chambers, 2nd floor, Abilene City Hall, 555 Walnut.
