Accessible Fixed-Route Bus Service

All CityLink buses are accessible to persons with disabilities, including those in wheelchairs, three-wheeled scooters and other similar mobility devices.

CityLink drivers announce stops at major transfer points, major intersections, major destination locations, and any other stop along the route as requested by passengers. Requests for a specific location to be announced by the driver should be made when boarding the bus.

CityLink drivers will provide assistance to passengers in transferring from one bus to another in the CityLink Station. If such assistance is needed, passengers should notify the driver when boarding the bus.

CityLink can provide assistance to persons with a disability (especially vision impairment) who may have difficulty identifying the correct bus at a location where more than one bus will be passing. If such assistance is needed, may call the CityLink office prior to the trip and inform the Information Teller or Dispatcher of the boarding location and the desired bus. The driver of the bus will be alerted to the passenger's needs.

CityLink has a Telecommunications Display Device (TDD) for communicating with persons with hearing impairments. There must be a TDD machine at the phone from which one is calling in order to access the CityLink TDD machine. The phone number for the TDD is 676-6401.

ADA Paratransit Service

CityLink provides door-to-door transit service for persons with disabilities who are certified "ADA paratransit eligible". This paratransit service is advance reservation, shared-ride, demand-response service. It is provided during the same time periods as fixed-route bus service, i.e., Monday through Friday from 6:15 a.m. until 6:15 p.m. and on Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 6:15 p.m., except holidays. Drivers are trained to assist passengers in boarding and alighting vehicles.

The ADA paratransit service is for persons whose physical or mental disability prevents them from using the accessible fixed-route bus service. Determination of eligibility includes evaluation of the individual's functional ability relative to all segments of the trip. Eligibility is essentially on a trip-by-trip basis.

Trips must be scheduled at least a day in advance, but not more than two weeks in advance. Subscription booking is allowed. Trips are scheduled through the CityLink demand-response scheduling process by calling 676-6402.

ADA paratransit service is provided throughout the City. For fare purposes, a primary service area has been established. The primary service area is that part of the City within ¾ miles of a bus route. For one-way trips that begin and end in the primary service area, the fare is $5.00. For one-way trips that begin and/or end outside the primary service area, the fare is $5.00.

For an application or additional information regarding the paratransit service, call 676-6399 Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
