License is obtained from the City of Abilene, Building Inspections Office.

Swimming Pool License Renewal
Sign Contractors
No license is required.
Sign electricians require license obtained from the city of Abilene, building inspections office.
- License is $75.00 and is renewable annually and expires Dec. 31st of each year.
- Non-renewable after one year expiration.
- Applicants may take a sign electricians test from building inspections.
Electrical Apprentice License
- Must pay $10.00 for license. Neither a test nor previous experience is required.
- This license is renewable annually and expires Dec. 31st of each year.
Residential Electrician License
- Must pass Block or SBCCI's Journeyman exam and proof of scores must be provided to Building Inspections and
- Must have reference(s) showing minimum of 4 years experience as an apprentice working under a master electrician; or Completion of two (2) years Technical Training at a recognized electrical school plus two (2) years experience as an electrician, under the supervision of a Master Electrician; or Completion of one (1) year Technical Training at a recognized electrical school, plus three (3) years experience as an electrician, under the supervision of a Master Electrician.
- Must pay $75.00 for initial license and is renewable annually. License expires Dec. 31 of the year. Price of each renewal license is determined by the Electrical Journeyman's License schedule.
Electrical Journeyman's License
- Must pass Block or SBCCI's Journeyman exam and proof of scores must be provided to Building Inspections.
- Must have reference(s) showing minimum of 4 years experience as an apprentice working under a master electrician.
- Must pay $75.00 for initial license. Licenses expire Dec. 31 of each year. Price of each renewal license will be determined by the following schedule:

Electrical Master's License
- Must pass Block or SBCCI's Master Electrician exam and proof of scores must be provided to Building Inspections.
- Must have 3 years of recommendation and proof of 10 years experience working under the supervision of a Master electrician. At least 4 of those years must be as a journeyman.
- Must pay $200.00 for the initial license. License expires Dec. 31st of each year. Price of each renewal license will be determined by the following schedule:

Electrical Exams
- Journeyman's and Master's electrician's Exams are offered periodically. A schedule of test dates for the SBCCI and Block exams can be obtained from Building Inspections.
Applications for the Block and SBCCI exam can be picked up at Building Inspections and the application and payment for the Block is submitted through Building Inspections. Applications for the SBCCI are mailed in to the SBCCI offices in Birmingham.
