How do I get a library card?
You can fill out an application form at any library location. If you prefer, you may print out an application and fill it in before coming. Make sure you fill out an Internet form, too! Bring the completed forms along with a picture ID and proof of address to any library location. The helpful circulation staff will do the rest.

How much does a card cost?
Library cards are free to all Taylor County residents. If you reside outside of Taylor County, there is a $10 annual fee.
How do I get a PIN number?
Try the last 4 digits of your Social Security number, or the last 4 of your library card number. If those numbers don't work, contact library staff at 677-2474 to obtain a new PIN.
Why won't the on-line renewal let me renew my books?
There are several possibilities. The item may have a reserve on it. Your card may have expired or you may have late fees. The easiest way to resolve this situation is to give the helpful library staff a call and let them explore.
Can I check out without having my card with me?
You may check out materials without your card if you show a valid picture ID.
How many things can I check out?
Adults (age 18 and over) have no book limit. There is a limit of ten on all audio-visual material.
Children (under 18) have no book limit. They may not check out Videos or DVD's. There is a limit of ten on all other audiovisual material.
I got a notice saying I have things still checked out. I know I returned them. What now?
If you receive a notice for something you have returned, please call the library. We will be happy to assist you.
What do you charge for library materials returned after the due date?
The late fees for books and audio books are all 10 cents per day. The late fees for DVDs are one dollar per day. The maximum late fee is $5 per item. For your convenience, materials may be returned at an after hours drop box at any of our three locations regardless of where they were checked out.
I have family members who speak only Spanish. Do you have staff available to assist them?
Yes! At our main library downtown and at our Mockingbird branch we have bilingual staff with at least one on duty most hours we're open. We're also happy to assist over the telephone or by mail.
Do you have any used books or videos for sale?
The Friends of the Library have a gigantic sale once a year. Check HERE for information.
